Chief Michael Sitar was appointed Chief of Tilton-Northfield District in February 2014. Chief Sitar has a Master's Degree in Public and Fire Administration, a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy, and an Associate's in Fire Science and Protection Technologies. Chief Sitar is a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer (EFO) program. Chief Sitar holds the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence and Accreditation. Chief Sitar is certified by Pro Board as a Fire Officer IV, Fire Service Instructor II, Fire Inspector I, and Fire Incident Safety Officer. In addition, Chief Sitar is a certified Emergency Manager, Emergency Medical Technician, and Hazardous Materials Operations. Before being appointed Chief of the Tilton-Northfield Fire District, Chief Sitar served on the Tewksbury, Massachusetts Fire Department for 30 years, with the last nine years as a Captain/Shift Commander. Chief Sitar also served as Tewksbury's Emergency Management Director for 26 years.

Chief Sitar is currently on the Board of Directors of the New Hampshire Association of Fire Chiefs and served as President in 2021/2022. Chief Sitar is the President of Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid Association. Chief Sitar is a member of the Communications Committee for the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Chief Sitar is the Vice-Chair of the Statewide Interoperable Executive Committee. Chief Sitar represents the fire service on the New Hampshire Disaster Medical Advisory Committee and the Crisis Standards of Care Committee. Chief Sitar is a 2018 graduate of the Leadership Lakes Region Program.

Chief Sitar is married to Dianne Sitar and has two adult sons, Michael and James. Chief Sitar comes from a firefighting family. His grandfather, father, brother, and uncle were all career firefighters, and his son, Michael, is a career firefighter in Bedford, New Hampshire.
